StreetScape, is two large three dimensional skeletal buildings forming an entrance to the
Civic Square depicting the architectural features of this genteel Scottish town with doorways,
crow step gables, the arched entrance veneers and dormer windows in the roofline.
A touch of humour to be discovered has been added with a crow sitting on the top of one
chimney stack and a second crow sitting in a window opening on the roof line.
The work is formed from mild steel hollow section and mild steel plates, formed and shaped
as required to depict the various architectural features of the historic buildings.
On completion the metalwork was hot dip galvanized A mordant solution acid etch was applied to the galvanised finish, speeding up the natural oxidisation of the zinc, creating the final grey patina. The galvanised finish has the advantage that the sculptures are also maintenance free.
StreetScape was installed in August 2021.
